MBE Complete Practice Exam Contains 200 Real Bar Exam Questions

MADISON, WISCONSIN, December 1, 2021—Future attorneys have a new tool as they prepare to take the bar exam. The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) has released its first full-length Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) study aid, the MBE Complete Practice Exam, via its BarNow study aids platform. The bar exam is the attorney licensure exam in the US; the MBE is administered as part of the bar exam in 54 US jurisdictions.

The MBE Complete Practice Exam is the first from NCBE to mimic a full-length MBE; it contains 200 multiple-choice questions, plus an answer key and explanations. The newly released questions are all taken from prior bar exams and cover the seven subject areas tested on the real exam. The MBE Complete Practice Exam is available now for $100 in the NCBE Study Aids Store.

“The MBE Complete Practice Exam is designed to help familiarize candidates with the types of questions they’ll see on the bar exam,” said NCBE’s Ken Kraus, who oversees the BarNow study aids program. “What’s great about the practice exam is that it contains all new content candidates have not seen in other study aids.”

On BarNow, users can practice for the bar exam anytime, anywhere. They can track their progress as they complete simulated exams and see their percent correct and average time spent per question. Users receive one year of access to the study aids platform from the purchase date. Special tools are also available to enable legal educators to use BarNow in their classes.

NCBE is continuing to offer its 50% off discount on the Everything Pack through Feb. 28, 2022. The Everything Pack, currently priced at $125, contains more than 900 practice questions covering the MBE, MEE, and MPT. The MBE Complete Practice Exam is being offered as a standalone premium product and is currently not included in any of the BarNow value packs.

About the MBE: The MBE is a six-hour, 200-question multiple-choice examination developed by NCBE and administered by user jurisdictions as part of the bar examination on the last Wednesday in February and the last Wednesday in July of each year. The purpose of the MBE is to assess the extent to which an examinee can apply fundamental legal principles and legal reasoning to analyze given fact patterns.

The MBE is only one of a number of measures that a board of bar examiners uses in determining competence to practice. Each jurisdiction determines its own policy with regard to the relative weight given to the MBE and other scores. The MBE is a component of the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE). In UBE jurisdictions the MBE counts for 50% of the overall score.
